See where visitors struggle, and why.
Tomodachi adds up, anonymously, where travellers in Japan get lost, give up on plans, or need a hand. You see the totals, so you can fix the right sign, the right station, the right page.
What the totals show
When a traveller says yes, the app counts a few simple moments. We add them up across many trips and share only the totals.
-
Where people get lost
The stations and streets where travellers open Lost Mode or ask for the way back.
-
Plans that get skipped
The stops travellers planned but never reached, and the time of day they gave up.
-
Where they need help
The places people reach for a phrase, or for the card they show to staff.
What a report looks like
Here is the shape of one, drawn with public figures. Real Tomodachi reports come once enough travellers have said yes.
These four are among the complaints visitors name most, and each one happens where a phone with no signal and no Japanese is least help.
Our promises to travellers
- Totals onlyYou see counts across many trips, never one person’s day.
- At least 20 travellers behind any published figureIf fewer people than that are behind a number, it is not published. Access-controlled partner reports use a floor of 5.
- Analytics off until a traveller says yesNothing is counted unless the traveller has switched it on.
- No names, no accountsTravellers use a trip code, not an account, so there is no one to name.
